Stories disappear, so save them fast

Stories are gone after a day, which is the whole point of them, but it also means if you want to keep one you have a short window. The good news is you can save a public Story the same way you save any other Instagram video.

How to do it

Open the Story you want. Tap the three dots in the bottom corner and choose Copy link, or grab the link to the account's Story from the profile. Paste that link into VDFR and press Download.

If a Story has several clips, save them one at a time.

The catch with Stories

This only works for public accounts. If someone's profile is private, their Stories are private too, and no downloader can reach them without logging in as you, which VDFR will never do. That is a deliberate line we do not cross. There is more on this in is it legal to download Instagram videos.

Saving your own Stories

If it is your own Story, the easiest route is Instagram's own archive. The app saves your Stories automatically if you have that setting on. VDFR is more useful for public Stories from other accounts that you want to keep.
