When a download will not work

Most failed downloads come down to a handful of causes. Here they are, roughly in the order you should check them.

The post is private

This is the most common one. If the account is private, VDFR cannot see the post, full stop. There is no fix other than the content being public. We do not log in to private accounts and we never will.

The link is incomplete

Sometimes the link does not copy fully, especially if you typed it or grabbed it from a chat. Go back to the post, tap the share icon, and use Copy link so you get the clean URL. Then paste it again.

The post was deleted

If the original poster removed the video, it is gone. VDFR pulls the file live from Instagram, so if Instagram no longer has it, there is nothing to fetch.

The video has no sound

If your download is silent, the audio was probably muted on Instagram's side, usually for copyright. That happens before the file ever reaches you, so it is not something the downloader can restore. More on this in formats and quality.

It still will not work
